TORONTO (August 14, 2017) – The Canadian Music Café, presented by the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA) and the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA), today announced an impressive lineup of artists who will take the stage in its 9th annual showcase. This year, the Café has partnered with the City of Toronto’s xoTO Filmmakers Lounge to create deeper connections between the city’s music and film sectors. The Café will take place September 11-12 at the xoTO Filmmakers Lounge (270 King Street West @ Duncan) during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Guests of the Café can look forward to sets from six time Juno Award-winning R&B artist Keshia Chanté, rip-roaring rock duo The Pack A.D., Toronto indie rock darlings Fast Romantics, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Geoffroy, and ground-breaking Latina pop artist Lido Pimienta, among others. The complete lineup and schedule can be found at the end of this release.

The Canadian Music Café brings together fresh Canadian talent and industry professionals for potential song placements in TV, film, advertising and video games. This year, the Café received a record number of submissions from across the country and selected 10 Canadian artists to perform to a room of music supervisors, producers and filmmakers from all over the world.

“It’s perfect that xoTO Filmmakers Lounge and Canadian Music Café are partnering up this way during TIFF,” said Zaib Shaikh, Film Commissioner & Director of Entertainment Industries, City of Toronto. “Our team overseeing support of the Film, Music, Events and Tourism industries was created to help leverage synergies, opportunities and economic impact so we definitely welcome this collaboration to highlight both screen and music for the international filmmakers and music supervisors in town during the festival.”

“The Canadian Music Café represents one of the best opportunities for publishers and the artists they represent to showcase their phenomenal ongoing collaboration,” said Vincent Degiorgio, CMPA President. “No matter what the challenges of technology are, music matters first and events like this one help all pictures come to life.”

“CIMA is proud to once again be a part of the Canadian Music Café, which provides our talented independent artists a unique opportunity to showcase their music and their artistry to influential professionals from the media industries,” said Stuart Johnston, President of CIMA. “We are thrilled that the Café will feature a very strong lineup of artists representing Canada from coast to coast.”

This year’s lineup of artists will join Café alumni, including Hannah Georgas, Rose Cousins, Doomsquad, City and Colour, Dear Rouge, Martha Wainwright, Scott Helman, Donovan Wood and Arkells, whose music has been placed in dozens of domestic and international film and TV productions.
