Funding Opportunities for Music Publishers
The CanExport program is a five-year, $50-million Government of Canada program that provides direct financial assistance to small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) registered in Canada that are seeking to develop new export opportunities and markets, especially high-growth emerging markets.
It provides financial assistance to Canadian music publishing firms and aims to support the development of Canadian songwriters/composers and the promotion of new Canadian musical works in Canada and abroad.
It provides funding for business development initiatives that support the marketing and promotion of the company and its services, as well as domestic and international travel to support the company’s development objectives.
It helps professional songwriters pay for the cost of attending domestic and international songwriting workshops and seminars on the craft and business of songwriting. Canadian professional songwriters can apply.
The Music Company Development stream of the Ontario Music Fund is intended to provide Ontario-based music companies with funding to support new or expanded business activities, including strategic business and market development, in the form of investments and undertakings.
The Music Futures stream of the Ontario Music Fund is aimed at stimulating entrepreneurship and providing support to develop Ontario’s diverse and emerging music industry, including artist entrepreneurs which have the potential to grow professionally if provided with business mentoring, skills development and working capital to expand their recording, touring or A&R (artist and repertoire) capacity.
