 In January 2014 Elisabeth Bihl started her new position of Executive Director of the Canadian Music Publishers Association, where her focus will be on the issues and challenges of music publishers and the songwriters in Canada as well as expanding the profile for Canada’s music publishers both domestically and internationally.  From 1999 until December 2013Elisabeth Bihl was the Executive Director of the Canadian Music Centre and its five regional centers across Canada. The Centre manages and promotes and publishes the music of some 850 Canadian Composers representing a catalogue of over 22,000 works. Ms. Bihl’s accomplishments include leading the CMC through a complete organizational realignment, updating the entire Centre’s IT infrastructure, music digitization and publishing and recording business direction. Refocusing the Centre’s services and programs to actively promote and market Canada’s classical music composers’ music to orchestras, performers and many other clients in Canada and internationally. As a cultural manager and change catalyst with over 20 years of experience her career background includes management positions at the National Arts Centre of Canada, the Canada Council for the Arts and the National Gallery of Canada and the orchestra touring agency Artsfunding International. Elisabeth served on numerous boards including Vice President of the Association of International Music Information Centres (IAMIC), Treasurer at the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA); is a founding board member of the Canadian Senior Artists Resource Network (CSARN), the Creators Copyright Coalitions, and the Ottawa International Jazz Festival, the American Marketing Association (Canada) and a frequent public speaker on music and cultural issues in Canada and around the world.
