CREATE NY 2023

Fourteen music publishers from across Canada (including publishers from MPC’s newest membership tier, NXTGen) travelled to New York form June 11 -14, 2023 for Music Publishers Canada CREATE NY trade mission.

The delegation began their week with a New York edition of MPC’s Meet the Music Supervisors event. At the event, which was hosted by the Canadian Consulate General in New York and Ontario Creates, the delegation met with and pitched nine New York-based music supervisors. The first day was capped off with a mixer co-hosted by AIMP New York’s Young Professionals Committee and MPC’s NXTGen group.

On June 13, the delegation attended AIMP’s Global Music Publishing Summit, which included panels on topics such as independent publishing around the world, AI’s role in the music industry, US policy updates impacting the music publishing industry, and LGBTQ+ representation in sync. MPC’s board co-chair, Jennifer Mitchell (Red Brick Songs), was featured on a panel entitled “View from the Top: Indie Perspective”.

The third and final day consisted of B2B meetings coordinated by MMF-US and MPC, with particular emphasis on MPC’s NXTGen members.

We would like to thank FACTOR, the Government of Canada, and Ontario Creates for their support.
