Funding Opportunities for Music Publishers
The CanExport program is a five-year, $50-million Government of Canada program that provides direct financial assistance to small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) registered in Canada that are seeking to develop new export opportunities and markets, especially high-growth emerging markets.
It provides financial assistance to Canadian music publishing firms and aims to support the development of Canadian songwriters/composers and the promotion of new Canadian musical works in Canada and abroad.
The Songwriter Support for Music Publishers component provides eligible music publishers with supports for songwriting initiatives for up to 3 songwriters. Songwriting initiatives include: co-writing projects (domestic and international), songwriting camps, workshops and showcase attendance.
It offers a subsidy ($2000) towards one year of songwriting initiatives, such as domestic and international travel for co-writing sessions and trips, songwriting camps and workshops, and eligible showcases.
The Ontario Music Investment Fund (OMIF) is designed to provide targeted economic development investment to the province’s vibrant and diverse music industry. The Music Creation stream supports businesses that take risks discovering and developing talent – particularly emerging artists – and bringing it to market through recording and production, marketing and promotion, touring and showcasing, and publishing.
