Music Publishers Canada Launches NXTGen Membership Category

Music Publishers Canada is excited to announce NXTGen, a new membership level created to foster the next generation of music publishing leaders across the country, representing all intersections of industry professionals.

The mission of NXTGen is to provide junior-level professionals, currently employed at music publishing companies, a space to learn, network, and build community and leadership skills. We are proud to highlight that participation in NXTGen is free for junior-level professionals with less than 10 years of experience in the industry who are employed by MPC member companies, including Active or Associate members. MPC officially kicked off NXTGen with a Launch Party on May 31, 2022 in Toronto. Thank you to all members, friends and colleagues who joined us to kick off this exciting new membership category, and thank you to Women in the Studio alum OBUXUM for spinning tunes! NXTGen is generously supported by Ontario Creates, Slaight Communications, FACTOR and the Government of Canada.

So…what is NXTGen all about?

NXTGen members will get exclusive access to:

  1. Learning
Professional development opportunities to learn more about music publishing, the industry as a whole, the “future of work” and upskilling, and leadership skills to move up within the industry.

  2. Community
A space in which young professionals can create their own network of peers, share their experiences, lessons, and resources, while also meeting new friends and colleagues. NXTGen-only events will take place throughout the year.

  3. Access
Access to industry events and key people within the industry from whom they can learn, and find mentors and collaborators. We’ll have exclusive NXTGen socials at MPC events during Canadian Music Week, New York Song Week, our annual Tech Summit, and more.

  4. Mentorship
Opportunity to find informal mentors and colleagues through various programming, and in our NXTGen mentorship programme launching in late 2022.
