Applications Open: Women In The Studio National Accelerator 2023

Music Publishers Canada is now accepting applications for our 2023 Women in the Studio National Accelerator. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the program. We are proud to offer a series of curated production-related opportunities, workshops, and networking experiences to producer/songwriters from across the country.

We encourage applications from individuals who have been historically underrepresented in these spaces and who remain so today, including women, gender fluid, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people.

First launched regionally in 2019 and expanded nationally in 2020, the Accelerator is designed to provide the cohort with opportunities for skills development and networking that they may otherwise be unable to access. Participants will gain valuable insights from mentors and industry experts for the duration of the program starting with sessions starting in June through to December 2023.

The program will focus on topics including technical skills, financial literacy, music business skills, networking and branding, and will offer opportunities for creative collaborations. Each producer, as a condition of acceptance, will be asked to explore volunteer opportunities in their own community.

Sessions and workshops will take place both virtually and in person. The in-person residency will include a comprehensive program of development and networking opportunities in Toronto from June 5-11, 2023.

To qualify, candidates must be:

  1. A mid-tier working producer/songwriter who has produced for others

  2. Able to provide streaming links to 3 examples of works they have produced and co-written on

  3. A Canadian resident (and able to provide proof of residency)

  4. Available to be in Toronto in-person from June 5-11, 2023

Applications will be accepted online until Wednesday, March 15, 2023, and can be submitted either by the candidate directly, or on behalf of a candidate (as long as you’ve confirmed that the candidate is interested and able to participate in all aspects of the program).

Applications are reviewed by an external jury, and selected candidates will be invited to proceed to an interview. Only successful candidates will then be contacted by Music Publishers Canada.

The Women in the Studio National Accelerator is presented by Music Publishers Canada, and generously supported by RBC Emerging ArtistsFACTOR and the Government of CanadaOntario Creates, and Cassels

Application deadline: Wednesday, March 15, 2023
